Le Président Luis Abinader a déclaré lors d’un entrevue à l’émission de radio « El gobierno de la mañana » diffusée spécialement depuis la province frontalière de Montecristi, que les forces militaires du pays ont été renforcées et sont prêtes à protéger chaque mètre carré de la République Dominicaine, une fois que l’intervention internationale dirigée par le Kenya commencera dans le pays voisin d’Haïti.
En ce sens, Abinader a déclaré que l’armée dominicaine a été renforcée et équipée et était capable de protéger le territoire national et les dominicains « Nous avons renforcé les forces armées […] elles sont davantage équipée et préparée que dans ses meilleurs moments et prête quand cette intervention internationale se produira. »
Abinader a insisté sur le fait que la République Dominicaine ne veut pas participer à l’intervention menée par le Kenya, car le pays partage une frontière commune avec Haïti et pour des raisons historiques, mais « il doit connaître certains détails de ce que cette force internationale fera, afin de prendre toutes les mesure pour protéger la frontière des conséquences éventuelles de cette intervention. »
De même, il a averti « au cas des membres de gang tentent d’entrer sur le territoire dominicain cela va être très mauvais pour eux, » soulignant qu’ils ont été identifiés et figure dans une base de données.
